Network assessments with Axians and Actemium

You cannot secure a network you do not understand. Axians and Actemium pair their industrial-security expertise with narrowin's Network Explorer to give customers exactly that understanding: fast, and without disturbing operations.

The partnership

Axians is a leading service provider in industrial security. Through years of experience and close collaboration with the OT specialists at Actemium, the two companies advise and support their customers comprehensively on cyber security for IT and OT infrastructures. They combine that expertise with narrowin's Network Explorer, and the result is an attractive, ready-to-run package.

Why a different kind of analysis

The basis for the smooth operation of any industrial network is a deep understanding of its topology and configuration. But the traditional methods of network analysis are either too time-consuming, or simply not suitable for OT environments. Active scanning, for one, is something an OT system should never have to absorb.

What is needed instead is an automated, non-invasive approach that can be integrated seamlessly into an existing infrastructure without disrupting OT systems. That is exactly the need Axians and Actemium address with narrowin's Network Explorer.

The assessment

Axians and Actemium offer customers an assessment of their network infrastructure, built on the Network Explorer and on their own network and security expertise, to create a transparent basis for everything that follows. It works as a quick initial analysis, whether as the foundation for a SOC implementation or as the starting point of a network architecture project. It runs in four steps:

  1. Kick-off and setup

The goals of the assessment are defined, and the technical preparation is put in place.

  2. Network discovery and visualisation

The Network Explorer collects the data and builds a digital twin of the network: topology, devices and configuration, made visible.

  3. Network analysis

Automated checks run across the digital twin, and the experts add their own analysis on top.

  4. Recommendations for action

The findings are turned into implications and walked through with the customer in a workshop.

The outcome

From the assessment, quick wins are identified immediately, and further work packages are derived, each one tailored to the customer's specific situation rather than a generic checklist. The customer ends up with a transparent picture of their network and a concrete, prioritised path forward.
